Swimming competitions come to an end

 

September has been a busy month. Three big swimming competitions were held, Haustmót Ægis, Haustmót Ármanns and Sprengimót Óðins. The final results are available on the websites of the swimmingteams. Click here to see the new Icelandic swimming records at the website of The Icelandic Swimming Association.

 
Summer game winners to be announced

There are just a few more days left before the end of our "Sundsumarleik" or "summer swimming pool game 2011".

Swimming pool guests in Reykjavík get a chance to win free swimming pool tickets by collecting stamps which are received at each pool´s visit. Once you´ve collected enough stamps, they should be handed in at the front desk of one of the Reykjavík thermal pools to participate in the lottery. The names of the winners will be announced here at swimminginiceland.com in the first week of October.

 

 
Maintenance Reykjavik thermal pools

 

Last April, the costs of renovating some of the biggest swimming pools in Reykjavik city was estimated at 275 million krónur. More than half of the budget should be spent on Laugardalslaug thermal pool. Among other things, walking paths should be made, a new hot tub and dressing rooms renewed. Also a steambath should be built at Grafarvogslaug, a new hot tub should be installed at Árbæjarlaug and discussed was building a new gym at Breiðholtslaug thermal pool.

On Friday 2 September the budget was adjusted and estimated costs are now reaching 320 million krónur.

 

 
Flateyri swimming pool closed

 

Flateyri swimming pool is closed due to maintenance, expected is that the pool will open again mid September.
